Chapter 06

Shifts, hours and days off

Shifts tell Stafrix when each person is expected. They decide late marks, full days, overtime and when a forgotten punch-out is closed.

Create a shift

Open Shifts. The welcome created a default shift from the hours you gave; add more for different timings.

  1. Name it
For example “General”, “Morning” or “Night”.
  2. Set the hours for each weekday
Turn days on or off and set start and end times. Different days can have different hours, such as a half day on Saturday.
  3. Set the grace periods
Late after (min): arriving within this many minutes of the start is still on time. Early exit before (min): leaving within this many minutes of the end is not an early exit.
  4. Assign it
Choose the shift on each employee’s record (see Add your employees).

People without a shift follow Staff without a shift under SettingsWork hours & days off.

Work hours and days off

Open SettingsWork hours & days off.

Weekly off
The days nobody is expected, for example Sunday. They show as WO on calendars.
Full day and full-day tolerance
How many worked hours make a full day for people without a shift, and how much short of it still counts as full.
Breaks
Each shift says whether its break is paid, and how long an unpaid break is. Settings here only cover staff without a shift.
Forgotten punch-outs
Someone came in but never punched out. Stafrix closes their day for them, and a manager can correct it later. Choose Close the day after (minutes after the shift ends), the Close time for people without a shift, and whether the day waits Until a manager checks the day.

Overtime

Overtime is time worked after the shift ends. Set it under SettingsOvertime & fines:

Overtime pay rate
How much an overtime hour pays compared with a normal hour. Default 2x.
Minimum overtime
Less than this doesn’t count. Default 30 minutes.
Overtime steps
Overtime is rounded down to whole steps. Default 15 minutes.
Approval
By default overtime is paid only after a manager approves it under AttendanceOvertime. The manager can approve fewer minutes or a different rate.
